How to form an LLC online
You can form an LLC online without a law firm. Your state wants a short set of facts and its filing fee. This page covers what to have ready and how Pathway Formation walks you through it.
What to have ready
- The state where you're forming
- Your LLC name, plus a backup in case the first is taken
- A business address
- A registered agent. You name your own.
- The names of your members
Steps
- Answer the wizard. State, name, address, registered agent, members.
- Pay at checkout. Payment runs through Stripe. The state fee is passed through at what your state charges, with no markup. Optional add-ons (such as EIN help, expedite, reminders, or the Command desk) are priced separately. Review your cart before you pay and keep only what you need.
- We file. Your packet goes to our filing desk, and you keep the documents.
What the state fee is
Every state sets its own fee. Michigan charges $50, Montana $35, and Massachusetts $500. We pass the fee through as-is. The state fee is one part of your total; any add-ons in your cart are charged on top of it.
