Get a privacy policy link for your App Store or Google Play listing

Apple's App Review Guidelines (5.1.1) say all apps must include a link to their privacy policy in the App Store Connect metadata field and within the app, and App Store Connect lists the Privacy Policy URL as required for iOS and macOS apps. Google Play's User Data policy says all apps must post a privacy policy link in the designated Play Console field, plus a link or the text within the app itself. Here's what to line up first.

Before you submit

  1. Your app name and a short description of what it does
  2. A list of the data your app collects and the services it uses
  3. A public URL for your privacy policy (Google Play asks for an active, publicly accessible, non-geofenced URL, not a PDF)
  4. A support or contact address for users

Why the policy should live at a stable URL

Both stores ask for a URL in a listing field, and Google Play specifically rules out PDFs. A hosted page gives you one address to paste into App Store Connect, the Play Console, and your app's settings screen, and it stays the same when you update the text.

How PolicyPilot helps

Answer a few questions about your app, what it collects, and the third-party tools inside it. PolicyPilot generates and hosts the policy, so you have a link to drop into your listing and your app. You're still responsible for checking that it covers what each store's policy asks for, such as what data you collect, who you share it with, and how users can request deletion.

Pricing

PolicyPilot is freemium. Begin at no cost and upgrade only when you need to: Free, $10, $15, or $30.
